This film’s a repeat for me. I remembered watching it, remembered loving it, but was a little fuzzy on how it went. You really have to find a good film you’re fuzzy about and re-watch like I’ve done. The remembering part can prove to be totally accurate, and the fuzziness makes it almost like you’re seeing it for the first time.
Since to date I’ve only given you reviews on romances and kids films, I thought I’d show you that I do occasionally watch the action-packed kind.
Deja Vu is about a A.T.F agent who is investigating a ferry bombing that takes the lives of 500 navy officers and civilians. Agent Carlin (Denzel Washington) joins a surveillance team to catch the perpetrator only to discover he’s jumped into a time warping situation. He becomes the eyes of the team, directing them to tail a pre-bombing victim, Claire (Paula Patton), who he believes is a key element to the investigation. As he follows her life in the four days leading up to her death, his need to bring the bomber to justice begins to evolve into a need to save the ferry victims and also the life of Claire.
Denzel Washington is brilliant in this movie. He fits his character like a English gentleman’s kid glove (except without the accent and, er, the gloves?). He makes it so good, I’m don’t have a lot to say. He’s brilliant, Paula is gorgeous, the action is actiony (say that 20 times fast), and as before mentioned, time warping films are my thing.
Five out of five stars for this one, guys.
